Alicante is een provincie aan de zuidoostkust van Spanje, in de regio Valencia, en staat vooral bekend om haar zonovergoten kustlijn: de Costa Blanca. Met meer dan driehonderd zonnige dagen per jaar en kilometers afwisselende stranden is het al decennialang een geliefde vakantiebestemming.De kust biedt voor elk wat wils. Bekende badplaatsen als Benidorm trekken met hun hoogbouw, levendige boulevards en bruisende nachtleven een internationaal publiek, terwijl plaatsen als Dénia, Jávea en Altea juist een rustigere, authentiekere sfeer ademen met hun jachthavens, witte huisjes en kunstzinnige straatjes. Tussen de baaien vind je verborgen kreken (calas) met helder turkoois water, vaak omzoomd door pijnbomen en rotsen.Maar de provincie is veel meer dan strand alleen. Het achterland is verrassend bergachtig en groen. In de Vall de Guadalest ligt een pittoresk wit dorpje op een rotspunt, met een stuwmeer in een opvallende smaragdgroene kleur eronder. Verder naar binnen vind je amandelboomgaarden, wijngebieden en wandelroutes door natuurparken zoals de Sierra de Aitana en de Font Roja.

Calpe is een gemeente in de Spaanse provincie Alicante in de regio Valencia met een oppervlakte van 24 km². Calpe is gelegen aan de Costa Blanca en telt 19.591 inwoners. Calpe wordt gekenmerkt door de 332 meter hoge rots El peñon de Ifach, die uitsteekt in zee en van kilometers ver te zien is. De rots maakt deel uit van een klein vogelreservaat.
